Update - 31 January 2014
By now your station will have, or be about to, switch your satellite set top box receivers from the retired Aurora system to the new VAST equipment.
Please note that Optus is sending an updated version of the VAST set top box software over the VAST satellite feed to all CBAA set top boxes next Monday 3 February. The update is to provide features/behaviours oriented for 'professional' users.
Optus will issue a platform-wide command to effect the software update on the set top box, scheduled to occur on Monday 3 February 2014 at 15:10 AEDST. This will cause a temporary loss of service for about 20 minutes to all set top boxes.
VAST set top box/es will need to be receiving a satellite signal in order for this update to be successful. However, please avoid live use of the VAST satellite feed audio during that time.

Previous - 30 January 2014
Stations would be aware that the community radio sector satellite distribution and content exchange feeds are undergoing new technology transition. Part of the transition involves moving to the new Optus satellite platform, often referred to as VAST. The long-serving Aurora satellite platform is being retired - with official closure on 31 January 2013.
Your station will already have replacement satellite decoders, cabling and a multi-switch necessary to make the first step in the transition. Stations have been encouraged to install the replacement VAST decoder alongside the existing Aurora decoder in order to make final connections on 31 January.
The existing Aurora decoder can now be retired for both live and DDN use. The new VAST receivers should now be connected to feed both live audio and if in use DDN audio/data.
Please refer to the QUICK GUIDE for VAST setup document (specifically pages 3-4) for instructions on making final connections.
As both the new and old equipment use common connectors this step should be fairly straightforward and can generally be performed by non-technical staff.
We also ask that stations take the time to complete the Equipment Registration form in order for us to track installation progress. It will take only a few minutes to complete.
CRN staff will be on hand to assist with your install if required.
